How does microneedling improve facial scars?
The process of microneedling skin stimulates collagen production which progressively repairs and remodels scars including acne & chicken pox scars.
A series of microneedling treatments is required to show visible improvements to scars.
Results are generally seen after about 4 to 6 weeks, though the new collagen production continues for months after treatment.
Please note scar improvement treatments are not suitable where acne is still active – we can advise on alternative treatments such as skin peels and skincare until the acne has resolved
- All patients will show some improvement, however, how much varies on individual response
- Most clients will achieve a 75-90% improvement in the appearance of scars 12 months post treatment
- Skin Needling is safe on Asian and skins of colour.
FAQs
How many Microneedling treatments are required to treat scars?
Scar improvement treatment may involve several treatments spaced at 4 – 8 week intervals (depending upon severity). You will notice an improvement in the quality of the skin approximately 4-6 weeks after the first treatment
How does dermaroller, dermastamp microneedling work on scarring?
Microneedling improves scars by stimulating your skin to produce new, more elastic collagen. The dermaroller or EDS dermastamp / dermapen creates multiple (upto 150/second) pin point wounds of a selected depth (0.1mm to 2mm) into the skin (which quickly seal & heal), stimulating release of growth factors and new collagen.
Microneedling increases the thickness and health of skin. Other treatments for facial scars such as laser can result in thinner or blanched skin, making it unsuitable for repeat treatments.
Prices:
Scar microneedling treatment From £90 for small individual scars to £350 per treatment on extensive body scars using EDS Dermastamp – costs vary according to the extent of area to be treated and depth of needle used
